Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul is in the crosshairs of Italian giants Juventus as the Serie A champions think of a potential successor to Gianluigi Buffon.

According to Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur, the Holland shot-stopper has captivated the Bianconeri, who are now actively scouring Europe for a replacement for Buffon, who is considered to be in the twilight of his career.

Buffon will be 36 years old in January and has policed the Juventus' goal since 2001.

While the Italy international is keen to continue as long as possible, Juventus do not want to be left scrambling for his successor at the last minute.

Krul has blossomed at Newcastle over the last two years, making a name for himself at St. James' Park.

He has also gained international recognition with five caps for Holland to date, the first arriving in 2011.

The goalkeeper is under contract with the Magpies until the summer of 2017.
