Chelsea will not be moving for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw in the winter transfer market, manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed.

Shaw is becoming linked with a move to the Blues, owing to their apparent difficulties of getting a regular into the role.

Ashley Cole is struggling to nail his spot since returning from injury with right-back Cesar Azpilicueta filling in, while Ryan Bertrand was today confirmed as injured.

However, despite the speculation, Mourinho replied with a blunt "no" when asked if he was considering a quickfire move.

The Portuguese, who had already ruled out any Chelsea activity in the winter, added: "The market is closed. It will open in January. But as I have said, I don't think we will be in there, buying or selling.

"At the end of the season, of course, normally every club does it. Chelsea do it as well. At the end of the season we will analyse and see."

Shaw has been at Southampton all his professional career, graduating to the senior ranks late last year, and is contracted with the Saints until 2018.
