Arsenal are closing in on Barcelona starlet Antonio Sanabria, the Paraguayan's representative has revealed.

Sanabria has been at the centre of a veritable transfer saga in recent weeks, with Roma, Juventus and Parma also keen on the 17-year-old, while Barcelona would like to keep the striker at the Camp Nou.

But Arsenal have been doing the groundwork on a capture and Arsene Wenger's net looks to be closing around the highly-rated Paraguayan.

Sanabria's representative Raul Verdu told Catalan daily Sport: "Our contacts with Arsenal are advanced and a solution is expected next week."

Sanabria is expected to be handed a lucrative deal to swap the Camp Nou for the Emirates Stadium, with a five-year contract on offer at the Gunners.

The 17-year-old is currently turning out for Barcelona's B side in the Segunda Division and has turned heads with his performances.

Sanabria also clocked up impressive displays at the Under-20 World Cup, something which had scouts frantically e-mailing news of his talents back to home base.

The Barcelona starlet's present deal runs until the summer of 2015.
