Paris Saint-Germain could be the frontrunners for the outgoing Victor Valdes with Monaco not deeming the goalkeeper position as a transfer-market priority.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Ligue 1 champions will be eager to snap up Valdes on a free transfer, though Chelsea remain contenders.

Valdes' contract at Barcelona will run out next summer and the Spaniard was tipped to be heading towards Monaco amid reports of a pre-contract arrangement.

Valdes is currently out with a calf injury but it is believed PSG are considering a move for the goalkeeper who has spent all his professional career with Barcelona.

With Monaco already giving current number one Danijel Subasic a contract extension, it is not clear if Ranieri will consider taking Valdes on.

The former Chelsea manager was quoted by Le 10 Sport as saying: "There are priorities for the next transfer window, but goalkeeper is not one of those.

"I am very pleased with Danijel's contract extension. He is a good keeper who does things well."

PSG's Salvatore Sirigu is the man between the sticks for coach Laurent Blanc, but with his contract expiring in 2015, Valdes could become a likely replacement.
