Roma are prepared to match Arsenal's €3m offer for Barcelona starlet Antonio Sanabria, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Juventus and Parma are understood to also be in the mix, though Arsenal were seemingly in the lead having sent representatives to speak with Sanabria and his family.
Roma were initially only willing to put €2m on the table with added bonuses, but Rudi Garcia's side have decided to up the ante.
Roma director Walter Sabatini will be hoping to use his good relationship with Barcelona president Sandro Rosell to good effect in the race for the Paraguayan youngster.
The capital club are on a roll this campaign having gone unbeaten in Serie A so far.
The 17-year-old Sanabria is currently playing in the Segunda Division with Barcelona's B team while he also made his presence felt in the Under-20 World Cup this summer.
Arsenal are never averse to buying young but Roma's superb season has seen them become an attractive target for emerging talent.
His contract is until 2015 and it remains to be seen what decision Sanabria reaches on his future.
