Manchester United boss David Moyes has hinted that he is gearing up for a big January transfer window by admitting he has money at his disposal to spend on new players.

Moyes missed out on a number of transfer targets over the summer and has seen his side's midfield severely criticised in the current campaign.

And with the club's firepower up front also affected by Robin van Persie's continuing injury niggles, Moyes may look to add a striker in his ranks too.

"We have got the money and the club will spend", Moyes said via his club's official site.

"There is no question about that", he added.

The Manchester United manager also insisted it was not through any fault at the club that targets were not landed.

"We were close to a couple of really major signings [in the summer] but, in the end, we didn’t quite get there", he said.

"Players have chosen other clubs or made their decisions [to stay] elsewhere."
