Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has revealed he is pleased with the way his recovery from a serious knee injury is going, with the Dutchman feeling stronger.

Van Ginkel, who joined Chelsea from Vitesse in the summer transfer window, damaged his cruciate knee ligament in a League Cup clash against Swindon Town in September.

The serious nature of the injury was soon realised and the creative midfielder was ruled out for a period of nine months, meaning he will play no further part for Chelsea this term.

It has been a big blow for Van Ginkel, but he is pleased with his recovery progress so far.

"It's going well", he explained to Vitesse TV.

"My knee looks good and it is also getting stronger.

"So, well, I'm pleased."

And his injury absence is allowing him to better get to know the city which he now calls home.

"I'm fine. I am enjoying myself in London, it's a beautiful city. It's very different from where I come from."
