Schalke coach Jens Keller has dismissed continued questions about his future at the club and insists if he had listened to the media he would have already been sacked five times.

The latest chatter in Germany had former Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf replacing Keller, although it seems the Ruhr giants have backtracked on that plan over concerns about whether Schaaf can bring through young talent.

While Keller admits he cannot say what will happen over the winter break, he insists he is taking no notice of the speculation surrounding him.

"Five times I've been sacked for someone from the outside [in the media]", he told Bild.

"It was reported that the club were appointing coaches Roberto Di Matteo, Armin Veh and Steffan Effenberg for sure. Yet I'm still here fighting.

"Of course, what happens in the winter is not in my hands."

Schalke currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga, five points off a top four Champions League spot, while they play Real Madrid in the Round of 16 in the blue ribbon competition.
