Manchester United defender Phil Jones is ruled out for "a couple of weeks" with a knee injury, David Moyes revealed today.

Jones has had a steady run with Manchester United so far in the season – apart from a minor injury that ruled him out of England contention in November.

The 21-year-old was expected to line up against Hull City on Thursday, but Moyes revealed before the game he has a knee injury.

Jones is on 13 Premier League appearances this season while he also found the net against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month, the same game which saw Van Persie pick up his injury.

While Moyes was hoping for a "Christmas miracle" on a quick Van Persie return, Nani's injury came earlier this week with a seven-week layoff expected.
