Atletico Madrid's Chelsea-contracted goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is seemingly out of the running, with Borussia Monchengladbach's Marc-Andre ter Stegen a big favourite.

Meanwhile, Valdes, who announced his desire to leave Barcelona back in January 2012, is linked with the likes of Monaco, Chelsea and Arsenal.

But when asked yet again about his future employers, Valdes told Sport: "It's not just up to me, but also on the team and what competition they're playing in.

"It was over a year ago that I announced I would not be at the club [next summer] and I think you have to turn the page on this issue now."

Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina, currently on loan from Liverpool, is also a candidate to replace Valdes, having expressed a desire to one day return to his boyhood club.

As to the question of his successor's unveiling, Valdes is happy to let Barcelona take their own decision, adding: "It would not be a bad thing."
