Atletico Madrid have no intention of bidding for Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata this month, despite much speculation to the contrary.

Mata's in-and-out status when it comes to the starting eleven at Chelsea has led to much talk of a move away from Stamford Bridge for the Spaniard, even as manager Jose Mourinho has insisted he wants him to stay.

A number of clubs have seen themselves linked with the former Valencia man as a result, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

And of late Atletico Madrid have been thrown into that suitor mix.

But according to Tutto Mercato, such a suggestion is wide of the mark, with the Spanish giants not preparing to bid for Mata.

Diego Simeone's men have already brought in one player this month in the form of Argentine midfielder Jose Sosa, on loan from Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv.

And that is more than likely set to be the extent of their business in the current transfer window.
