AC Milan supremo Adriano Galliani has confirmed that the club are indeed in talks for FC Porto midfielder Fernando.

The Brazilian's current contract at the Portuguese giants is due to expire in the summer and Porto have so far failed to persuade him to pen an extension.

Liverpool and Napoli have held talks with Fernando's agent and are firmly in the mix too. But the duo look likely to have to compete with Milan, although the Rossoneri need to offload someone to bring in the midfielder ahead of time this month.

"There are talks for Fernando, a good player", Galliani was quoted as saying by Sky Italia.

"But it's not a done deal", he added.

"We need to sell a player before."

Milan have presented a new player today, with Keisuke Honda having completed his switch to the club following the expiry of his contract at CSKA Moscow.

The Rossoneri are desperate to boost a flagging season which sees them currently in 11th place in Serie A.
