Saint-Etienne CEO Roland Romeyer has revealed that two clubs have approached the French outfit over signing young centre-back Kurt Zouma.

However, Romeyer is not willing to consent to Zouma's sale in the current transfer window, as losing the defender in mid-season would be disruptive.

France youth international Zouma is rated as one of the brightest defensive talents in world football and has attracted an army of admirers to befit that status.

In the summer Zouma's fans were a virtual who's who of Europe's footballing elite, from Liverpool to Manchester United, Chelsea to Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund to Wolfsburg.

But the 19-year-old stayed put and, under contract until 2017, Saint-Etienne are in a strong position to keep him.

That has not stopped clubs launching formal approaches, Romeyer has confirmed, even if it will not force Les Verts to sell this month.

Romeyer told French radio station RMC: "A lot of clubs are interested in Kurt.

"But we have not held talks with 50 clubs.

"Two clubs have approached us. There is no question of selling him now."
