Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen has revealed that the club have had a bid for midfielder Ravel Morrison rejected by West Ham.

The Cottagers are keen to snap up the 20-year-old schemer, with whom Meulensteen worked during his time as first team coach at Manchester United.

But the Dutchman confirmed Fulham have had a bid knocked back, despite him being under the impression that Morrison wants to make the move across London.

Meulensteen was quoted as saying by the BBC: "Yes, we did make a bid.

"We have put in a bid for Ravel Morrison that has been knocked back.

"Yes, I think he does want to come.

"He would add pace, power, unpredictability and a real attacking threat."

The Fulham manager has now placed the matter in the hands of the club's chief executive, commenting: "It's back to Alistair Mackintosh and we'll see what happens."

Morrison was snapped up by West Ham from Manchester United in 2012, but shipped out to Birmingham City to gain further first team experience. He has featured in 15 Premier League games for the Hammers in the current campaign, notching three goals and providing a further two assists.

The 20-year-old's contract at Upton Park runs until the summer of 2015.
