Speedy Barcelona winger Cristian Tello wants to fight for his place at the Camp Nou and is not eyeing the exit door, despite consistent links with Liverpool.

Tello admitted in September last year that the Reds had rolled out the welcome mat for a potential arrival at Anfield over the summer, but he chose to remain in Spain.

And earlier this month speculation broke out about a possible loan move to Liverpool, which Barcelona then instantly rebuffed.

Tello does not want to call time on his Barcelona career just yet, even if regular playing time can be hard to come by.

"The most important thing is to play and get time on the pitch and to work hard", he was quoted as saying to his club's official site.

"You must always give the best of yourself and take advantage of opportunities. I am not playing as much as last year, but I am not giving up."

Tello, who played in Barcelona's midweek Copa del Rey clash against Getafe, also remarked: "I am happy here."

The winger will be hoping for more opportunities to make his mark under coach Gerardo Martino before the end of the season, with a winter move seemingly firmly off the table.
