Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed his side’s “fearless” brand of attacking football this season.

The Reds, who are currently fourth in the Premier League with 43 points from 22 games, have scored 53 league goals so far this term, just second behind Manchester City’s tally of 63.

And Rodgers has explained that his side are working extremely hard to put in dominant attacking displays.

"I think it tells you we play with no fear”, the manager told his club’s official site.

“We're a team that wants to be on the offensive and be creative – and the players don't have a fear of that.

"It also shows we're working very, very hard because in order to score the goals and dominate the games like we try to do, you have to press the ball and work hard.”

Despite Liverpool’s prolific form in front of goal, Rodgers admits that the Merseyside club need to work on their defence, which have leaked 28 league goals in the present campaign, the most amongst the current top-seven teams in the Premier League.

However, the manager believes that his side’s shaky defence is due to their lack of a settled back four due to injuries to a number of key players.

“Defensively we've still got work to do.

"This year the balance has been difficult because we haven't been able to have a sustained back four, which disrupts the pattern and momentum at times”, he added.
