Scottish champions Celtic will not give up on attempting to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leigh Griffiths despite having had an opening offer rejected.

Griffiths, who starred at Hibernian on loan from Wolves in 2011/12 and 2012/13, is keen on a move to Celtic, his club boss Kenny Jackett has admitted.

Jackett told the BBC: "He's fully committed to Wolves as well and, until anything is accepted and does happen, he's part of a group chasing the top two.

"We do understand every player has their price, but we are not desperate to sell players here.

"Leigh has gone public to say he is interested in the Celtic situation, as most Scottish lads would be when a club of that size come in."

And Celtic boss Neil Lennon is not giving up the chase for the 23-year-old, promising the Scottish champions will hold further talks with Wolves about landing Griffiths.

"We will see if we can get a deal thrashed out", he said.

"We have made our intentions clear and the talks will keep going now for however length of time it takes to get a resolution one way or another."
