Clement Grenier has comprehensively put a line through any notion of a deadline day-beating move to Newcastle United today.
The English side moved to try and sign Grenier following their decision to sell Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week.

However, they have had their approach rebuffed and Grenier insists he has never been interested in quitting Lyon during the current transfer window.
Speaking at a press conference, Grenier said: "I had no intention of leaving this winter.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will make a late attempt to change Lyon and Grenier's mind, but the clock is ticking down towards the closure of the transfer window.
