Tottenham Hotspur have moved to keep tabs on Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, who was the subject of a failed approach from Arsenal last month.

The Gunners were keen on tempting Lyon to part with the 22-year-old, but Les Gones would only consent to a January sale at an eye-watering price point.

Now Tottenham are firmly in the race for Lacazette, sending a scout to take in his performance against Lens in a French Cup match on Thursday, according to Fichajes.

The talent spotter took in a contest which Lyon eventually lost in extra-time, crashing out of the cup.

Lacazette has featured regularly for Les Gones this term, finding the back of the net 13 times in 22 Ligue 1 contests.

Under contract at the Stade Gerland until the summer of 2016, Lyon will present the face of reluctant sellers in the summer transfer window.

However, Spurs have done business with the French giants before and skilfully completed a deal for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in 2012.
