Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has reiterated his view that Liverpool custodian Simon Mignolet has shown a lack of respect towards him.

Mignolet has been vocal over wanting to be number 1 between the sticks for Belgium, a spot Courtois currently holds and is hoping to keep heading into the summer's World Cup.

The Liverpool shot-stopper's words have not gone down well Courtois, who slammed him for a lack of respect earlier this month – a view he has now renewed.

"If someone says that he is unfairly left out of the Red Devils' goal, I see that as an attack", Courtois told Het Nieuwsblad.

"It shows that you to not accept the coach's current choice and at the same time that you show no respect for the current number 1."

However, Courtois is also keen to clear up the picture painted when he last spoke out about Mignolet's words.

"But I do not want my statements to be seen wrongly, as last time.

"Then it sounded like I said Mignolet must show no ambition. That's not true.

"I understand that he has the ambition of becoming the number 1 for Belgium, I only say you should also respect those who do play."
