Tottenham Hotspur hitman Emmanuel Adebayor has expressed his satisfaction at having provided strike-partner Roberto Soldado with an important assist.

Andros Townsend made the move to break from deep before feeding the ball to the Togo striker who found the Spaniard in space, finally leading to the goal.

It was the former Valencia player's first goal since 29th December last year, providing him with much relief.

However, Adebayor feels that with the kind of talent that Soldado has, the goal could well open up a new door for him.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the business and hopefully this goal will be key for him. I’m delighted for him”, the 30-year-old told his club's site.

“Strikers always go through difficult moments and he has been through that.

“You start doubting yourself and you think ‘when am I going to score again?’ A striker playing with confidence and without confidence is a very different thing, believe me."

Even though the lone goal was enough to seal three points on Sunday, the Lilywhites' performance has come under some scrutiny due to the side having failed to score more than one against a side desperately fighting relegation.

However, Adebayor believes that it is due to the situation Cardiff are in.

“Cardiff came here to survive, we had two or three chances, took one and that gave us the three points we needed.

“Perhaps next time we’ll find the second goal and that will make it easier for us. The most important thing was to win the game for the team, the club and the fans and we did that”, the former Arsenal player added.
