Roberto Soldado admits that were he in the midst of such a tough time as a younger player he would have called time on his Tottenham Hotspur spell and headed back to Spain.

The striker, a summer signing from Valencia, has struggled to transfer his prolific goalscoring La Liga form into the Premier League and only recently managed to find the back of the net; his first goal for nine games coming against Cardiff City last weekend.

The goal was Soldado's eleventh of the season, but the Spaniard, bought by former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, feels he is not out of the woods yet. Soldado has vowed to battle on though.

"If all this had happened to me when I was 22, I would have probably returned home after a month, but I believe it is a positive experience for me, my family and for my children's education", he explained to Onda Cero.

"I am the only one responsible for my poor form, but I will get better.

"We have a great team and I am convinced we can have a good season."

Soldado's Spurs currently sit fifth in the Premier League, chasing a top four spot which is currently four points out of reach.
