Chelsea’s Petr Cech feels his side are still not favourites to win the Premier League this season as the goalkeeper explained that “there's plenty of football to be played” in the current campaign.

The Blues, who thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at the weekend, are currently atop the Premier League table with 66 points from 29 games.

But Cech is of the opinion that Manchester City, who are nine points behind Chelsea but have played three games less than his side, have the desired experience and squad required to move up the table by winning their games in hand.

However, the Czech international was quick to add that the Stamford Bridge outfit are pleased with their current position and will give their all to maintain pole position until the end of the campaign.

“We are going game by game, we keep saying that and that's actually what we've been doing,” Cech told his club’s official site.

“We will try to stay on top of the league as long as we can. There's plenty of football to be played but we are in the position where we would like to finish the season.

“City have enough experience and quality in their squad to win their games in hand, and it's up to them to do that. We are in a good position, we go game by game and we try to do our best.”

Chelsea will next face 11th-placed Aston Villa in an away Premier League fixture on Saturday.
