FC Groningen sensation Richairo Zivkovic is set to put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Ajax later today.

Ajax have agreed a fee with Groningen for the 17-year-old striker, while terms have also been thrashed out with the player himself.

As part of the deal to sign Zivkovic, Ajax have agreed to loan Groningen a player for next season and that could end up being the young striker himself.

Ajax had to move quickly to sign the starlet, with clubs from Barcelona to Liverpool keeping a close watch on his progress at the Euroborg.

And Ajax coach Frank de Boer has admitted that if his side had waited to sign the 17-year-old they could have been forced to pay a lot more to get their man.

"We think that he's great otherwise we would not take him", De Boer said to reporters.

"It may be that he could have remained at Groningen, but would have cost five times as much in three or four years."
