Italian giants Roma are eyeing up a summer raid on Manchester City for Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic.

The 24-year-old has found carving out a regular first team spot at the Etihad Stadium to be a difficult task, although he was entrusted with striking duties recently when Sergio Aguero was out injured.

His fringe status has alerted Roma, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, who are now preparing to move for the hitman in the summer.

Jovetic's stock in Italy is still sky high following a successful spell at Fiorentina, the club he left for Manchester City last year.

Fiorentina had been looking at bringing Jovetic back to the club in January but were put off by his salary at Manchester City.

It remains to be seen if Roma can stomach the forward's wages if they can do a deal with the Citizens.
