Tottenham Hotspur have identified Romelu Lukaku as their ideal summer signing, but it remains to be seen whether the White Hart Lane outfit can get a deal for the Belgian over the line.

Lukaku is on loan for the season at Everton from Chelsea and has only increased his standing in the Premier League through his displays at Goodison Park.

And the powerful striker, who spent last season on loan at West Brom, has become the focus of attention at Tottenham, where the club's powerbrokers have become convinced he is exactly what is needed for next season, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

Lukaku's relationship with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has appeared strained at points this season, with a very public spat leading the Portuguese to suggest the striker was not being open about why he joined Everton on loan.

However, Lukaku is not the only striker on the radar at White Hart Lane, where Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado could be offloaded in the summer.

Indeed, Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez and Aston Villa's Christian Benteke have also been placed under the spotlight as potential acquisitions.
