AC Milan boss Clarence Seedorf expects his team to kick on after their win against Fiorentina last night.

Having lost four of the last five matches in all competitions, the Rossoneri had been running low on confidence, but the win over the fourth-placed Gigliati can provide the team with much needed incentive, the Dutchman believes.

Goals from Philippe Mexes and Mario Balotelli ensured the vital win, even though it was unable to make any vital difference to the dynamics of the league.

Il Diavolo are currently placed 12th in Serie A with 39 points from 30 games and chances of European qualification appear slim.

However, the 37-year-old hopes that the win is the just the start of good things to come.

"Let's hope that this result will be the start of some continuity in terms of results", Seedorf told his club's official site.

"We all showed the desire necessary to help the other guys on the team and that was the best thing we showed today.

"I'm very happy for the group of players for what they did against Lazio [a 1-1 draw] and Fiorentina, two teams that are tough to face", the former midfielder added.
