Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed that Bayern Munich tried to snap him up, but he rejected the chance to join the Bavarians.

At the time Sakho was playing for boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain and had come to the attention of Bayern Munich.

The German giants spied doing a deal for the centre-back, but met with an uninterested Sakho.

"In my 12 to 13 years at PSG, several clubs tried and among them was Bayern Munich", Sakho was quoted as saying to L'Equipe.

"My father, though, did not want to me to leave for the club."

Sakho ended up leaving PSG last summer after growing frustrated at spending time on the bench, with other options selected ahead of him at the French champions.

He sealed a move to Liverpool, where he has clocked up 13 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, losing two months recently to a thigh injury.
