Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has wasted no time in planning for the summer transfer window by identifying Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti as a potential signing.

Wenger's men went down to a 3-0 defeat at Everton in the Premier League today which has ended any lingering hopes of challenging for the title.

Now Arsenal are bidding to hold off a challenge from Everton for fourth place. But Wenger is already planning the shape of his squad for next term.

And according to Tutto Mercato, the Frenchman is extremely keen on raiding PSG for Verratti.

Verratti is considered the natural heir to Andrea Pirlo in the Italy national team and is highly prized at PSG.

Wenger would no doubt have to splash the cash to sign the playmaker, potentially paying more than the £42.5m needed to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid last summer.

Ironically, Ozil's former employers are also firm fans of Verratti.
