Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is delighted with his team’s performance after they beat West Ham United 2-1 on Sunday to reach the top of the Premier League table.

Steven Gerrard’s penalty in the first half was followed by a Guy Demel equaliser just a minute later. But another Gerrard penalty in the 71st minute saw Brendan Rodgers' side bag an important three points at Upton Park and Henderson is happy for the way things turned out.

"It was a team performance. We've been working really hard as a team all season, and this was no different. We're working really, really well”, the Englishman told Liverpool’s official site.

"For the first goal, Luis [Suarez] does brilliantly – it was a great ball from Stevie over the top, then Luis does his stuff and manages to draw the penalty with a handball.

"Then the second, Lucas puts a great ball in for Flanno [Jon Flanagan, ed], who gets there just before the 'keeper.

"It was a brilliant three points for us."

"Overall we've got to be delighted with our performance and the three points. I felt as though we came out in the second half and really controlled the game with the ball, penetrated in behind a few times and could have had a few more goals”, the 23-year-old continued.

"At the other end, I think we dealt with the set-plays and aerial threat really well throughout the game, so we're delighted."

With their ninth consecutive win in the league this season, the Reds sit two points clear of second-placed Chelsea and will look to cement their position at the top when they host fellow title-contenders Manchester City on Sunday.
