AS Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov has been awarded the Player of the Month award for March by the French club’s fans.

The Bulgarian international, who was in the running for the award along with Jeremy Toulalan and James Rodriguez, joined the Ligue 1 club as a deadline day loan in January this year and said that he was delighted with his life at Monaco.

"The team is young and will still keep growing. To be part of this project is something very exciting for me”, he was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

"There's lots of talent in the team and it's only going to increase in the coming seasons."

Berbatov has scored four goals and provided four assists for Claudio Ranieri’s side in eight appearances this season.

He started his first game for the club against Sochaux on 8th March and opened the scoring in just six minutes into the game before he added one more league goal to his month’s tally and won the support of the fans, who will now be hoping for him to continue his goalscoring form in their game against Rennes on Saturday.

The former Manchester United player also scored in his side’s 6-0 win over Lens in the French Cup quarter-final and will be looking to guide the Red and Whites to another win when they take on Guingamp in the semi-final on 16th April.
