Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho believes that manager Brendan Rodgers has a charisma that few of his contemporaries can match.

Rodgers brought Sakho to Anfield last summer, raiding Paris Saint-Germain to do a deal for the France international defender.

And Sakho has been impressed with the man who has led Liverpool to top the Premier League standings at present, believing he squeezes the maximum amount out of every player at his disposal.

"Rodgers manages to get the maximum out of every player", the Frenchman told his club's site.

"It's hugely important and not every coach has that charisma.

"He must keep all the players interested and each time he calls up a player they respond with a performance – like I did at West Ham.

"It's been four months and I haven't played with injury. I had the chance to express myself, and I was there. I felt like a lion before the match. It had been four months and I was hungry to come back strongly."

Sakho will hope to be handed the chance to feature again this coming Sunday when Liverpool face Manchester City at Anfield.
