Liverpool youth academy product Conor Coady is happy with the time that he has spent at Sheffield United so far this season on loan and believes that it has allowed him to grow as a player and person.

Coady joined the Blades on a loan deal from Liverpool in July last year. Later he revealed that he turned down an opportunity to travel with the Liverpool senior squad on their pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East to join the League One outfit.

Coady believes that he took the right decision to join the Blades as he felt it was the right time for him to take a step forward in his career.

“It's been massive for me. At the start of the season I spoke with the club and my family and it was something I really needed”, the youngster told Liverpool’s official site.

The 21-year-old thinks that after a few seasons of reserve team football, he needed to step-up to the plate and experience first team action, and playing for Sheffield United has been an enjoyable experience for the youngster.

“I had played reserve team football for a couple of years and I needed to step out into the big world to play the man's game.

“I have really enjoyed it and it has brought me on massively as a player and as a person.”

Although playing in the third tier of English football now in League One, Sheffield United were the winners of the First Division title in 1898 and won the FA Cup in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925.
