Barcelona midfielder Alex Song could well be the subject of a three-way transfer battle this coming summer between Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, citing sources in Spain, the trio are all extremely keen on snapping up Song when the window swings back open.

Song joined Barcelona in the summer of 2012 from Arsenal and his stock in English football remains sky high.

The midfielder has struggled to cement a first team spot at Barcelona and considered quitting the Catalan giants last summer, only to opt to stay put for at least one further season, partly on the advice of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

This term has barely seen an improvement in fortunes for the 26-year-old however, who has started just ten La Liga games so far, while he only clocked up one start in the club's Champions League campaign.

Song is now being actively targeted for a return to England and the Cameroonian may well be prepared to call time on his adventure at the Camp Nou, especially having declared the Premier League to be his preference if he does move.

His contract in Spain runs until 2017.
