Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis has said that his team will fight until the end to win the Premier League title this season, hoping Liverpool slip up.

The loss means that Manuel Pellegrini's men are now placed third in the table with 70 points and six matches to play and cannot overtake Liverpool if the Reds win their remaining four games.

"We will fight until the end", Demichelis told his club's official site.

"Obviously we are not happy about the result but we know we have still got matches ahead."

The 33-year-old strongly believes there are a number of ifs and buts which he feels can be crucial in determining the outcome of the season.

"We have seen in football that we can still win and they can make mistakes.

"Hopefully we will win the rest and there will be some mistakes from Liverpool", the Argentine said.
