Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has again reiterated the official Bavarian line by saying that Mario Mandzukic is not for sale this summer.

Mandzukic’s future has been a source of constant speculation since news broke that Robert Lewandowski will join the German champions in the summer from Borussia Dortmund.

Sammer has warned other top European clubs from laying their hands on Mandzukic and believes that the Croatian will remain with the German champions for some time to come.

“We don’t want anyone knocking at our door for Mandzukic”, the German told Sky Deutschland.

The former Inter Milan man believes Lewandowski’s arrival will have no effect on Mandzukic’s importance in the team.

“He is an incredibly important player for us. He moves like an animal on the pitch and works hard for the team.

“The opponents are always trying to unsettle him as they know that Mandzukic can cause problems for their defence.”

It was recently claimed that Mandzukic's agent Ivan Cvjetkovic was in London to meet the representatives of Arsenal and Chelsea. Both the London clubs are on the lookout for a top striker next season and the Croatian interests them.

Mandzukic has appeared 45 times for the German champions this season and is their highest goalscorer with 25 strikes into the back of the net.
