Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to add Mario Mandzukic to his squad in the summer to bolster his attacking options, with primary target Diego Costa appearing set for Chelsea, according to Croatian outlet 24 Sata.

Mandzukic’s future has been a source of constant speculation since news broke that Robert Lewandowski will join the German champions in the summer from Borussia Dortmund, when his contract expires.

Wenger has turned his attention towards Mandzukic after conceding defeat in his pursuit of Costa. The Arsenal manager had the chance to take a close look at the Croatian during his side's Champions League Round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich earlier this season – and the Frenchman was impressed.

It was recently claimed that Mandzukic’s agent Ivan Cvjetkovic was in London to meet the representatives of Arsenal and Chelsea regarding a potential transfer for his client, signalling an exit from the Allianz Arena.

The Croatian’s current deal with the European champions expires in 2016, though Bayern Munich have hinted at wanting to extend his deal.

Mandzukic is the top goalscorer for the German champions this season in all competitions, hitting the back of the net an impressive 25 times in 45 appearances.
