Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win over Everton has come as a huge encouragement for his side as the Gunners look to end the season in the top four of the Premier League.

Roberto Martinez’s side are battling Arsenal for a spot in the Champions League next year, and the loss against the Eagles at Goodison Park on Wednesday ensured that the Toffees will remain fifth in the table, one point behind the Emirates Stadium outfit.

The north London club have had a good week so far, reaching the final of the FA Cup by beating Wigan Athletic, while they also defeated West Ham on Tuesday.

With ending the season in the top four in their own hands now, Wenger insists his side need to continue to put in the hard work when they take on Hull City on Sunday.

"Let's be honest, of course we wanted Crystal Palace to make a result but you know that in the Premier League, it is like that. Since the start of the season we have learned one thing, that you can drop points everywhere”, the Frenchman was quoted as saying by Arsenal’s site.

"It is of course a big encouragement but there is a lot of work to do for us, and that's what we want to continue to do.

"We have a big game at Hull, we just want to prepare as well as we can for it. I think mentally we are in a better shape than a week ago, because we had two important wins, and that of course puts us in a better condition on the confidence front”, the 64-year-old added.

Arsenal also have games against Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City left over the next few weeks before they end their league season.
