Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet feels the absence of Jordan Henderson in the next few games will not hamper the side’s title push.

Henderson was handed a red card after he challenged Manchester City’s midfielder Sami Nasri during the Reds 3-2 victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s side on Sunday, and will subsequently serve a three-match suspension.

The 24-year-old Englishman has played an important part for the team this season, scoring four goals and assisting in seven others in 34 league appearances, as the Anfield outfit look on the cusp of clinching their first league in close to 24 years.

But Mignolet believes that Brendan Rodgers’ side have the potential to cope with such circumstances and will do well even without Henderson.

"I am sure we have a good enough squad to deal with these kinds of situations", the 23-year-old shot stopper was quoted as saying by Liverpool’s site.

"Look at how Joe [Allen] performed when he came off the bench against Manchester City.

"It was a difficult moment in the game at 2-2. It was tough to be a substitute coming on at that stage but he really helped the team out”, the Belgian international continued.

"He did a good job just as Lucas did away to West Ham the week before. Victor Moses also helped us when he came on against City – not only offensively but also in defence. The manager has options."

Liverpool are leading the Premier League table, two points ahead of second placed Chelsea, and will face Jose Mourinho’s side on 27th April, in what could be the title decider following their game against Norwich City on Sunday.
