Celtic midfielder Kris Commons is delighted after being nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award.

The 30-year-old has had a brilliant season with the Scottish club, with 23 goals and seven assists in 29 league appearances so far, he has guided Celtic to their third consecutive title in a row.

The Englishman is also the Scottish Premiership’s top-scorer, and has been nominated along with team-mates Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk, besides Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd. He is ecstatic after being considered for the honour.

“It´s nice to be recognised by your fellow professionals and people you play against”, Commons was quoted as saying by Celtic’s website.

“I see it as a great honour and we´ll see how it goes on the night.

“It´s going to be difficult to win it because there are some top-class players involved in it this year, and I’ll be surprised if I do win it because big Fraser has been outstanding as has Virgil”, he continued.

“And if you look at Kris Boyd and the amount of goals he’s scored for a team that’s in the bottom six, it is a testament to how hard he’s worked this year.”
