Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed he is sending the club's medical team to Holland next week to check on the fitness of Robin van Persie.

Van Persie has been out of action with a knee injury and could not help Manchester United against Bayern Munich recently as they crashed out of the Champions League.

The former Arsenal hitman returned to his native Holland for treatment, with his absence estimated at four to six weeks, and Moyes will now check on his progress with a view to him returning to action before the end of the season.

"Robin is in Holland and making improvements, but we always thought it would be four to six weeks", Moyes said via MUTV.

"We'll have a better assessment in the next week or so as we'll see how he is coming along.

"Our medical team is heading out there to see him this week and get a better feel as to exactly where he is", the manager concluded.

Manchester United are next in action on Sunday away at Everton as they look to claw their way up from their current placing of seventh in the Premier League.
