Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Mesut Ozil will make more of an impact next season than he has done in his first season with the Gunners.

On transfer deadline deadline day last summer Arsenal paid a club record fee of £42.5m to Real Madrid to bring Ozil to the English capital. The German signed a five-year contract with the Gunners.

Wenger believes that Ozil is slowly but surely adapting to the rigours of English football after a difficult phase in his Arsenal career.

"The first season is the season in which you adapt and then you know what will happen and you go into it", the Frenchman told the club’s official site.

The 64-year-old is sure that the German will make his presence felt next season as he comes to terms with English football and develops more of an understanding with his team-mates.

"And I believe that he will know better his partners, he will know better the league and the potential is absolutely fantastic. He will improve with goals and assists, and his presence in the game.”

Since joining Arsenal in September last year, Ozil has made 35 appearances for the Gunners this season, scoring six goals and providing 13 assists.
