Sunderland defender John O'Shea has revealed that Gus Poyet urged the side to end Jose Mourinho's unbeaten home record with Chelsea today, after the Black Cats ran out 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea took the lead through Samuel Eto'o in the 12th minute and looked to be on course to move above Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

But Connor Wickham drew Sunderland level in the 18th minute, sending the two teams in level at half-time.

Then Sunderland were awarded a controversial penalty in the second half, which Fabio Borini, on loan from Liverpool, converted, sending Chelsea to defeat.

And ending Mourinho's 77-game unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge formed Poyet's team-talk, O'Shea said.

"Have a guess what the manager's team-talk was?" O'Shea told Sky Sports.

"Be the team to beat that record. Why not? Mourinho loses his record. We're the team that causes it."

Chelsea now continue to sit second in the table and two points behind Liverpool. The Reds can move five points clear if they beat Norwich tomorrow.
