Manchester United manager David Moyes believes that here has been some "animosity" towards the Red Devils from Everton, due to the fact they tried to buy Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini last summer.

Moyes, who left Everton to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United last year, eventually snapped up Fellaini from the Toffees, but not before seeing a £28m double bid for the midfielder and Baines knocked back.

The entire atmosphere around the affair and Moyes' exit has led to the Scot admitting to feeling uncomfortable at returning to Goodison Park to scout Everton, with him restricting himself to just one scouting mission ahead of Manchester United's clash against the Toffees tomorrow.

"I went to see Everton last Saturday at Sunderland, but I've not been back to Goodison this season", Moyes was quoted as saying by ITV.

"It's nearly a year since I left. I've just felt that it wasn't the right time to go back at this moment in time.

"Time is a big healer.

"I think there was animosity at the way we would have liked to have bought a couple of the players.

"But some Manchester United players go to Everton, so there is reverse."

Moyes will sit in the opposition dugout for the first time at Goodison Park when he takes Manchester United to the ground tomorrow.
