Yohan Cabaye has delighted in Paris Saint-Germain's Coupe de la Ligue victory over Lyon this evening and explained such nights are the reason he quit Newcastle for the French champions.

PSG locked horns with Lyon in the final, running out 2-1 winners thanks to two goals from Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

PSG were 2-0 up by half-time and an Alexandre Lacazette goal for Lyon in the second half was not enough to spark Les Gones into a comeback.

And Cabaye, who joined PSG from Newcastle in January, was pleased to collect his medal.

"This is largely why I am here", he told France 2.

"We're playing to win and it's a trophy won", he added.

Cabaye's team-mate Christophe Jallet could also not contain his happiness, explaining the most important thing was to collect the Coupe de la Ligue.

"In the final, no matter how, the most important thing is to win."
