West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has blasted defender Pablo Armero for conceding a penalty during his side's 1-0 home defeat against Crystal Palace today.

The scores were locked at 0-0 when Armero tripped Cameron Jerome in the penalty area, allowing Mile Jedinak to slot the ball home from the spot.

West Ham missed a number of chances to equalise and Palace claimed what is a club-record-equalling fifth top flight win in a row.

And post-match Allardyce was keen to point the finger at Armero, blasting the on-loan defender for his crucial mistake.

"It was a stupid penalty conceded by Pablo Armero for the winning goal. Setting out your plans is all very well, but you cannot make allowances for that", the West Ham boss told the BBC.

"He didn't need to make that challenge and Crystal Palace are set out to take advantage when you make a mistake like that.

"We put every effort in but could not put the ball into the back of the net.

"We had to take chances when they came our way and in that department we failed miserably today."

Palace now sit four points ahead of West Ham in eleventh, with the Hammers having collected 37 points from 35 games, sitting twelfth.
