Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen was all praise for winger Raheem Sterling after the 19-year-old scored a brace and assisted another goal during the Reds' 3-2 victory over Norwich City on Sunday.

The English international opened the scoring for Brendan Rodgers’ side just four minutes into the game and set up the next one for Luis Suarez just seven minutes later, before he put in his second for the day in the 62nd minute.

Gary Hooper and Robert Snodgrass did score for the Canaries, but Liverpool managed to clinch an important three points at Carrow Road.

Sterling’s double took his tally to nine Premier League goals in 30 appearances with six assists this season, and Allen feels the young player has worked hard to achieve success.

"It was an incredible performance from Raheem", Allen told the club’s site.

"His first goal showed the talent he possesses. It was a great strike.

"The improvements he has made in the time I've been here is just incredible. He has become a very important player for us”, the 24-year-old continued.

"I think it's a combination of two things. Firstly, being given that chance to perform as young players can sometimes be overlooked.

"But the other side of it is being willing to work hard day in, day out to improve, and Raheem has done that", the Welshman added.
