New Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has dubbed the situation at Elland Road "a bloodbath" and explained he is aiming to guide the side to promotion within the next two years.

Cellino recently took control of 75 per cent of the Yorkshire giants following a protracted takeover saga, which saw the Football League disqualify him from doing so, before an independent QC overturned the decision.

Now the Italian is preparing to revamp the operation of Elland Road to prepare the club for next season, where they will aim for promotion from the Championship.

But Cellino well knows such a task will not be an easy one.

"And at Leeds, you know it's a bloodbath", Cellino told La Nuovo Sardegna.

"At 57 years old I am getting back into the game and trying to get into the Premier [League] in two years", the Cagliari owner continued.

"But it will not be easy."

Leeds are next in action later today when they welcome playoff seeking Nottingham Forest to Elland Road in a Championship clash.

Boss Brian McDermott will hope for a win to further impress upon Cellino his credentials to lead the Yorkshire giants into next term.
