Diego Simeone admits that Atletico Madrid and Chelsea play a similar style of football and says he is aware of the strengths and weaknesses his team have.

Under Simeone, Atletico Madrid are in the last four of Europe’s premier competition for the first time in 40 years and are leading La Liga on 85 points.

“We are not the same teams but we have similar characteristics. We have the best defensive records in our respective leagues, we both have good defences and play a direct attacking game. We're both also good at set pieces”, the Argentine told UEFA’s official site.

The 43-year-old admits that he is aware of the weaknesses his team have but he wants to concentrate on the strengths and try to play around the weaknesses.

“We know our strengths and weaknesses: We will try to take advantage of our strengths and disguise our weaknesses.”

Atletico Madrid will host Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie at the Vicente Calderon tonight.

If Atletico Madrid go on to win La Liga this season then it would be their first league title since the 1995/96 campaign. Barcelona finished third that season on 80 points and Los Indios’ cross town rivals, Real Madrid, finished sixth in the table on 70 points.
