Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has praised his team’s fighting qualities that helped the Reds to fend off Norwich City and took them a step closer to their first league title in 24 years.

A goal from Luis Suarez and a brace by Raheem Sterling helped Liverpool register a 3-2 win over a resilient Norwich City on Sunday.




"We have three very precious points”, the 29-year-told the club’s official site.

"The first half was really good, we were dominant, scored two goals and also kept them at bay, but the second half was different.”

Skrtel praised the fighting qualities that the Reds displayed against a Norwich City team that made life difficult for the league leaders and gave them a real scare.

"They played really well and never gave up. We didn't play that well in the second half but we fought very hard and we won. It was a collective effort.”

Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League on 80 points and will take on second placed Chelsea next Sunday at Anfield and Skrtel has stressed the importance of this game in this season’s title race.

"Now we have one week to get ready for Chelsea and obviously everyone knows what a game that is."
